Jeppesen in Singapore is looking for a Systems Expert

 

We are looking for a motivated individual with very strong technical capabilities combined with the ability and desire to learn about and work with complex system installations.
This is an opportunity for you to work in an international environment with a team of likeminded system experts in a cutting edge expanding Software Company. The global hosting and deployment team operates from four different locations; Gothenburg, Montreal, New York and Singapore.

This position will drive investigations and projects that benefit the Service Center and our customers. You will be a Subject Matter Expert in several aspects of infrastructure, hosted environments and configuration, serving as an advisor to other internal stakeholders in projects and programs as well as mentoring Service Engineers. This position will be responsible for the daily and long-term support, service of our hosted customers and also our non-hosted customers with deployments.

What do we do?
 
As a Technical Service Engineer you will spend a significant part of your time in the following areas:
 
  • Become an authority on several Airline Crew Management production system installations
  • Provide application management, system administration and advanced technical support to Airline Crew Management products, according to the Service Level Agreement(s)
  • Requirements definition, design and deployment of complex system installations
  • Installing and maintaining cloud based servers
  • Deploying, tuning and supporting database cloud cluster technology
  • Developing scripts to aid in testing, debugging and gather server statistics
  • Assist the client with knowledge injections, proactive problem solving and daily management of the production installation
  • Act as the primary infrastructure contact for the customer and work internally with different teams to ensure issues are resolved with quality and within expected timeframe
     
     
    Who are you?
     
    You most likely have a Bachelors or Master’s degree within (or close to) the field of computer science. You have 9+ years of experience in a similar or software development role.
    Technical challenges and technical solving problems excite you!
    You are skilled at programming (preferably Python and/or Java) but don’t want to write code every day.
    You enjoy a variety of challenges of a highly technical nature.
    You take ownerships of issues and work well both independently and within a team.
    You like to take a break from technical matters from time to time in order to enjoy some social interaction!
    You have expert knowledge of Unix and/or Linux and shell scripting.
    You have experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Customer relationships
  • VMWare, IBM Netapp or similar
  • Experience with Active Directory, IdP, SAML, LDAP and similar technologies
  • Network design, administration and troubleshooting, Routers/Firewalls/NAT
  • Ansible
  • Univa Grid Engine
  • Messaging systems such as MQ, ActiveMQ, Qpid
  • Windows Server and XenApp
  • JBoss/Wildfly
  • Databases (Oracle preferred)
  • ServiceNow
  • Version control (Git / Mercurial)
     
The team you will be working with consists of 10 system experts. The team is today serving about 30 airline customers.
