Summary: 

 

Researches customer, company, technical, regulatory and other market information to support strategic planning, analysis and business acquisition.  Assesses the effects of market forces on the company's business posture. Evaluates business opportunities that affect future cash flow, revenue, earnings, market share, resource allocation or competitiveness to formulate optimal business strategies and best service offerings to meet customer needs.

 

Essential Functions:    

                                                                                              

Evaluates customer needs, business strategies and constraints by using analytical techniques and regular customer contacts to formulate the best product or service offering.

 

Identifies and synthesizes market environment trends to define and recommend the Company's strategic direction. Assesses the effects of external forces on the Company's business posture.

 

Exercises considerable latitude, ingenuity and creativity in supporting the formulation and recommendation of specific business objectives, strategies and plans that have considerable impact on the company's strategic position and financial performance. Maintains and utilizes strategy development tools, methods and techniques in solving complex problems to support strategy formulation. Influences key internal management in company decision-making processes.

 

Develops solutions to complex business case opportunity analysis by applying extensive analytic and leadership skill sets. Leads project teams to innovative and successful completion of business case opportunities, including risk assessment. Contributes to the development of new job practices, techniques and standards.

 

Reviews and prioritizes business opportunities for appropriate level of internal investments to optimize shareholder value.

 

Analyzes market trends to anticipate and help shape customer requirements. Quantifies and communicates the attributes of company products and services to meet customer needs and enhance customer acceptance. Influences the development of key marketing communication strategies and messages.

 

Evaluates and benchmarks Boeing's competitors' strategic direction, products and services, pricing strategies and core competencies by using industry-wide resources to achieve competitive advantage. Generates complex research reports and profiles using resource tools to support internal customers' analyses. Quantifies the value of products and services in the marketplace to estimate net price while considering operating economics, competition and future trends. Identifies potential price points.

 

Uses information to develop and maintain databases to filter, integrate and disseminate industry information. Compiles and interprets data from research using information technology to support the marketing process. Stays abreast of emerging research technologies. Develops, maintains and utilizes complex market forecasting models to identify business trends and opportunities. Conducts alternative scenario planning exercises to achieve risk mitigation to position the company's products and services for continued growth.

Develops tools and processes used to manage alliances. Identifies potential partner relationships with others in the industry for use in making recommendations to executive management. Compiles and shapes analyses for executive management strategy presentations.

 

Education/Experience:

Technical degree in a related field of study and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Applies extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Recognized as a job expert within the department/organization.

 

Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity.

 

Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective.

 

Guides the successful completion of aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

 

Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
