Summary:
 
Boeing Global Services is hiring for User Experience Designers within its Boeing Vancouver sites to help design, develop and optimize the future of analytics-driven products for the aviation industry.  You will be involved in all phases of the solution innovation, development and delivery lifecycle within the Digital Aviation & Analytics business as it innovates and optimizes these solutions to enable the world’s flying fleet.
 
As part of the team, you will be working with internal business partners and outside customers to identify and define business problems, grow and apply aviation domain knowledge and communicate the value of solutions.  As a User Experience Designer, you will empowered to conduct user research & testing and be a key contributor in the end-to-end design of complex software solutions, creating effective, user-focused user experiences.  Given the tight coupling with data analytics teams for this role, opportunities in data visualization design and visual analytics will also be central.
 
The positions will report within the Commercial Services Analytics Portfolio organization.  As the cross-functional teams and customers are located globally, the position will involve some travel, particularly to the USA.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
  • Work on a wide range of UX activities from concept through to deployment
  • Collaborate with product managers to document user stories and translate complex requirements and concepts into functional designs
  • Analyze requirements, identifying task sequences and workflows and creating user scenarios that clearly communicate key tasks.
  • Perform user research activities to uncover and define user needs and communicated them with the product team
  • Communicate the rationale for design approach with project teams and stakeholders
  • Work as part of the agile team to integrate design approaches on large scale projects, ensuring integration across complex platforms
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Apply formal and informal usability testing approaches to evaluate and validate design approaches
  • Maintain style guides and contribute to UI design standards and practices
  • Promote the benefits of the UX process and user-centered design to improve the usability of software
 
Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills:
  • You can walk non-technical stakeholders through your design thought process
  • You are customer obsessed and data-driven
  • You have experience with data visualization, working on complex data driven apps and tools
  • You have experience with a variety of design tools (Adobe & Sketch experience preferred)
  • You have experience working on UI / UX solutions within an Agile development environment
  • You have experience in acquiring user data or working with a team responsible for gathering user data
  • Your conceptual and visual communication skills are strong
  • Basic HTML and CSS coding skills an asset
  • Experience operating in an environment with remote teams an asset
  • Passionate about sharing your portfolio of your previous body of work
  • You judge your success by customers feedback on the product
  • You love design trends who stays on top of all the latest trends

  • Activity participate in the design community, meetups and events to promote our brand
 
 
Education/Experience:
  • You have a degree in Human Factors, Visual Design, Computer Science, related UX / UI degree / certificate or have an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have 4+ years work experience as a UX / UI designer, with end-to-end experience working on complex projects
