Summary:

Provides subject matter expertise in the conception, development and delivery of senior-level software configuration management (SCM) services.

 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides build management on assigned projects including build activities and troubleshooting, baseline creation and maintenance, branching activities, and script creation.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the development, implementation and maintenance of software configuration management tools; in the performance of SCM implementations; in the use of SCM project tools, process improvements, and software migrations; and in the creation of software configuration management plans and other SCM documentation.
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects as required.  Acts on behalf of SCM supervisor and/or manager, as needed.
  • Supports and meets expectation of the baselined Technical Service Unit (TSU) SCM plan.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves complex SCM problems, and recommendations and implements solutions.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates SCM activities with affected groups and/or individuals.
  • Supports and is an advocate for on-going process improvements and knowledge transfer across SCM TSUs and Center of Excellence (COE).
  • Monitors, troubleshoots and resolves external and internal SCM project support issues and requests in a timely manner.
  • Assesses and applies, as approved, SCM Jeppesen Unified Process (JUP) best practices and industry standards.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, management and project teams.

 

Education/Experience:

Technical degree in a related field of study and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Applies extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Recognized as a job expert within the department/organization.
  • Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective.
  • Guides the successful completion of aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
