Summary:

Overall execution of the large software development programs, including the development, project management, requirements, software configuration, and testing functions of the program.

 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Develops integrated schedule with software development program dependencies or customer dependencies along with Jeppesen dependencies,  including critical path and ensures assigned resources are executing as planned.  Provides tracking and reporting to plan and develops and mentors project teams on implementation of recovery plans as necessary. May represents the projects/programs during the Airline Manufactures integrated review sessions and manages the integration activities with other subsidiary engineering managers/program managers, or customer integration managers.
  • Manages subordinate staff. Forecast program resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides development opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance. Makes compensation recommendations in regards to hiring salaries and salary review actions. Recognize contributions of individuals and tams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce. Enforce company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc
  • Leads technology teams and directs all phases of assigned programs or projects by utilizing software development program and project methodologies, systems, tools and quality standards as defined by Jeppesen Technology Services. Facilitates communication of program health and status with program and project teams, stakeholders and sponsors, including the major Airline manufacturers, Customers, and senior and executive level management.  Prepares and participates in risk, issue and opportunity identification and mitigation or capture sessions and escalates to program leadership when assistance is required to remove road blocks.  Creates and ensures adherence to a program operating rhythm conducive to other required reporting or briefings including gate, phase or iteration reviews.
  • Establishes alliances with other departments and organizations ( internal and external) by recognizing dependencies in order to assess potential partnership and commitment to the program including the technical teams at the airline programs   Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships with others
  • Provides program technical direction and guidance to others regarding project direction, project process, and alignment with Airline programs.  Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of workgroup, project or process goals. Proactively communicates with employees, peers, the other technology teams (such as Airline technology teams). Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions. Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees.  Knowledge of skills and abilities required by subordinate employees to accomplish organizational responsibilities.
  • Ability to accomplish results through employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.  Often heads a centralized functional activity.
  • Skilled in advising a unit regarding tasks, projects and operations.  Actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedule or resolve complex problems.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives concerning operations, scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts.
