Summary:

Performs international trip planning, flight planning, flight following, communications, on-going analysis and customer service for business, government and commercial aviation in a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week center. Coordinates interactions with ground and air based aviation customers during all phases of flight planning and operations. Creates and disseminates computed flight plans and weather information. Relays sensitive/critical aviation information. Provides logistical assistance for flight crews and passengers. Liaises with multiple airport functions and personnel to ensure aircraft ground support and maintenance availability.  Ensures plans meet all applicable FAA and international rules and regulations.  Acquires, distributes and interprets for air crews a wide variety of publications and prepares and delivers briefings to flight crews.  Ensures strategic accounts profiles and preferences are identified and managed.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Oversees and performs complex trip planning and flight planning for business, government and commercial aviation. Prepares alternate plans and contingent itineraries for customer approval and selection. Verifies all plans meet applicable FAA and international rules and regulations.
  • Acquires, distributes and interprets for air crews a wide variety of publications (e.g., navigation charts, flight manuals and other safety publications) required to ensure safe flight and to comply with governmental regulations. Identifies new requirements and acquires essential new publications. Assists customers in planning itineraries based on knowledge of diplomatic requirements, airport restrictions, fuel availability, range of aircraft, and political situations.
  • Utilizes multiple electronic databases to document flight data, information and status. Responds to immediate situations and resolves in-flight issues. Researches and references files for service agencies/vendors, fuel, and diplomatic clearance agencies and updates databases as necessary.
  • Responds to incoming sale inquiries. Provides price quotes for services. Checks accuracy of billings. Monitors the status and tracking of customer orders to ensure timeliness, accuracy and quality.
  • Provides information about the trip planning service to new and existing customers as required
  • Prepares and saves database of information that can be used for future flight and route planning
  • Gathers and evaluates customer requirements and provides services to achieve those requirements and satisfy the customer.
  • Maintains a high degree of proficiency and knowledge in both trip and flight planning

 

 

Education/Experience:

Degree in a related field of study and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Regularly contributes to the development of new job practices, techniques, and standards. Recognized as a job expert within the department/organization.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.

  • Serves as subject matter expert to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
